Hey Everyone,

We are coming into the home stretch of what has been a pretty crazy year for Blind Pilot. A lot has changed since our days of riding bikes down the west coast and playing on street corners. We have put on many miles in the van and consequently probably put on a few pounds as well. Successfully getting rid of any muscle that was gained while riding our bikes. Thank goodness as it is giving us a good head start on this year’s holiday season.

Just a couple things we wanted to let you know before we wrap up this tour and 2009. Tickets are still available for the shows listed on the tour page. If you were planning on going to the show in Vancouver, BC, please note that the show has been moved from Media Club to a larger venue, the Biltmore Cabaret. Tickets are still available and all tickets purchased for the Media Club show will be honored.

If we are coming through your town, it will be great to see you again. Information on buying tickets can be found on the tour page.

We’re proud to announce that our December 4th and 5th Portland shows will support two important non-profit organizations: p:ear and the Oregon Food Bank. Proceeds from a limited-edition silk-screen show poster, which you can see below will benefit p:ear, a Portland organization which serves homeless and transitional youth. We are also asking fans to bring non-perishable food items to the shows to benefit Oregon Food Bank, and those that do will be entered into a raffle to win the show poster (we’ll autograph it if you want, but understand if you don’t).

For those of you who have been begging us for more shirts, our online store is growing all the time — please take a moment now and then to check for new items. We recently added a new shirt and hoodie design, which you can see here. For those of you who have been pulling your hair out waiting for 3 Rounds and a Sound on vinyl, you’ll have to pull some more. But… it really is so close. I’ll spare you the dramatic story of why we don’t have it yet, but I am 99% sure it is getting pressed as you read this.

Last, but not least, thank you so much to everyone who has come out and shown support. You have made this an amazing year.

Proceeds from a limited-edition silk-screen show poster, drawn by drummer Ryan Dobrowski, will benefit p:ear, a Portland organization which serves homeless and transitional youth. Pear martinis will also be sold at both shows with proceeds from the drink sales benefiting p:ear. These benefit shows will be a part of 12 Days of p:ear, a creative arts series which offers support to p:ear during their busiest season.

Blind Pilot will also be supporting the Oregon Food Bank at these shows. Please bring non-perishable food items if you are attending these shows to be entered in a raffle to win a limited-edition, silk-screen show poster.

The session was recorded in May while the band was on tour with The Decemberists. It features live recorded versions of “Go On, Say It,” “Buried A Bone,” “3 Rounds and a Sound,” and “The Story I Heard.” Enjoy!

So after a few months of very solid touring we finally got a couple weeks off. Today, I decided to get out the old bicycle again and ride from my parents house in Springfield to Portland. About 130 miles in all. The first 30 miles were amazing. I felt really happy and excited about potentially doing another blind pilot bike tour. Then it got hot. Really really hot. Then I realized that I have just been sitting in a van for three months. This apparently is no way to train for a 130 mile bike ride. Now I am sitting in a bar in Monmouth, Oregon with about 60 miles to go and I am beat.
In more blind pilot news… This last tour was amazing and I do apologize for not writing more often. I’m gonna blame the van again. All of the shows with the decemberists were great. Beautiful rooms and they are incredible. Amazing people and musicians.
Our own shows were really fun as well. We hit a few walls here and there, but always seemed to work it out. New York, your always great, but I think Boston may have been my favorite this time around. That’s just me though. Don’t blame the band.
One of the biggest treats was getting to meet the guys and gal from Local Natives who supported us all the way to Minneapolis. From crazy drum jams to skinny dipping in lake Michigan, I have to say those guys are a good time. If you live in LA, you should check them out.
And finally! I am getting really excited to start playing again. This next round of shows is going to be so fun I think. Really looking forward to playing with the Decemberists again as well as Andrew Bird. Man, that guy is good. Also looking forward to lollapalooza and outside lands. And of course the shows with Gomez. So much is happening in the next few weeks. Hope to see some of you out there. Thanks so much for your patience with the super slow blogging. More to come, I promise.
